Primary · Years 4–6
Confident in Maths and English before secondary school.
Maths and English for Years 4 to 6, whether your child needs to catch up or is ready to go further. Two-hour sessions, no more than five pupils per tutor, £17 a session, with SATs preparation in Year 6.

What we teach
Two subjects, taught from the skill underneath.
Science starts from Year 7.
Maths
Times tables, fractions, decimals, percentages, written calculations and problem solving. When a question is hard, we look for the skill underneath it that is making the work difficult, and teach that.
English
Explaining answers with evidence from the text, and turning ideas into clear writing: building sentences, choosing vocabulary, using punctuation accurately, and planning and improving a piece.
Catching up, or moving ahead
The assessment is not only for finding gaps. If the foundations are secure, we move your child on and set work that stretches them. If something earlier is missing, we teach that first.
Year 6 and the SATs
In Year 6, sessions include preparation for the national tests.
Is Year 4 too early?
Year 4 is the earliest we teach. If we don’t think tuition would help yet, we’ll tell you.
Two hours is a long time for a nine-year-old.
It isn’t spent on one task. Your child reviews last week’s work, learns, practises and gets help as they work, and we don’t have to rush the part they find difficult. See what a session contains.
Is a group enough, or does my child need one-to-one?
It depends on the child. With no more than five pupils per tutor, there is room for individual help while they work. Where a child needs a different kind of support, we’ll say so.
Start with an assessment
Start with where your child is now.
A free assessment in Maths or English gives us a starting point. We mark it, then talk you through what we found and where tuition could help.
