Frequently asked questions

Questions about tuition at Mundamind.

Straight answers about tuition, teaching, pricing and getting started.

How the teaching works.

Why groups of five, and not one-to-one?

We cap each tutor at five students so there is room to teach, check and correct each child’s work throughout the session. It is the model Mundamind was built around: individual attention, without one-to-one tuition being the only way to get it.

How can five children be taught individually?

They do not all have to follow one class-wide task or pace. Each child works from their own material at the level set by their assessment, while the tutor teaches, checks and adjusts the work as they go.

How are the groups decided?

Sessions are organised primarily by subject and, where numbers allow, by key stage too. Within the session, each child still works at the level set by their assessment.

What if my child is a long way behind?

Your child starts from the level the assessment finds, even if that is below their year group. Because each student works from their own material, they do not have to keep pace with the rest of the group.

What if my child is already doing well?

The assessment is not only for finding gaps. If the foundations are secure, we move them on and set work that stretches them.

Where do the sessions happen?

Every session takes place in person at our Tooting High Street centre.

Subjects, exams and progress.

Which GCSE exam boards do you cover?

We prepare your child for the exam board their school uses.

Do you teach science?

We teach science from Year 7 through GCSE, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We do not currently offer primary science.

Do you set work between sessions?

Yes. Homework comes from the work your child is actually doing, and the tutor goes through it with them before they leave so they understand what to do independently at home. It is not a fixed number of sheets.

How will I know whether it is working?

You can ask at the door, call or message us at any point. We also provide a structured progress update every half term, and contact you earlier if something needs raising. Tutors record what was covered and what needs to happen next as the work progresses.

My child has additional needs. Can you help?

Yes, depending on the support your child needs. Hudeyfa is a qualified teacher who works in SEND education and remains part of the teaching team.

Mundamind is a tuition centre, not a specialist provision. If we do not think our small-group setting is right for your child, we will tell you at the assessment.

Pricing and payments.

What does it cost?

£17 for a 2-hour session in Years 4 to 6, 11+ and SATs; £18 for Years 7 to 9; and £20 for GCSE. The pricing page shows the full rates, the family discount and the workbook charge.

How does payment work?

Every four weeks rather than monthly — thirteen payments a year. For one weekly session, that starts at £68.

Is there a discount for a second child or a second subject?

Yes — the more weekly sessions your family books, the bigger the discount, from 5% for two to 20% for five or more. The £5 workbook charge is not discounted.

Am I tied into anything?

No. Nothing locks you in for a term or a year, and there is no joining fee. You tell us if you are stopping.

Starting, and who teaches your child.

What actually happens at the assessment?

It’s free and takes place at the centre. Your child works on the subjects you’d like us to look at, while we talk with you about what you want help with.

We mark the assessment, then call you with what we found and what we would recommend. There is no obligation to start, and if we do not think we are the right fit we will say so.

Can I speak to someone before booking anything?

Yes. Call 07496 457482, or use the contact page, and ask anything you need to before booking.

Who will be working with my child?

Our team combines qualified teachers and subject specialists. Everyone who works with children is appropriately vetted, and groups are capped at five students to one tutor.

Are you registered with Ofsted?

Yes. Mundamind is registered on Ofsted’s Voluntary Childcare Register, URN 2899859. You can check our registration on Ofsted’s website, and our safeguarding and standards page explains who holds responsibility and how a concern can be raised.
