Where marks go

Where marks slip away.

Often on reading the question, showing the method, or organising a longer answer, rather than on what a pupil knows. We teach the subject and how to use it in the exam, in the same session.

What the question is asking

Command words, mark allocations and what an examiner needs to see, taught inside each subject.

Method that earns marks

Setting out working so that a slip late in a question doesn’t cost every mark before it.

Longer answers with a structure

Planning extended answers in English and Science so the knowledge is visible to the marker.

How GCSE sessions are organised

Sessions built around the subjects your child needs.

Foundation or Higher

Maths

Both tiers, prepared to your child’s exam board.

Two separate sessions

English Language and Literature

Taught separately, prepared to your child’s exam board and the texts their school has set.

Combined or Triple

Science

Taught by a science specialist, following the course your child’s school has chosen. We agree the right amount of Science support after the assessment.

Questions

About GCSE tuition.

More in our general questions.

Is Year 11 too late?

It depends on how much time is left and what needs work. Earlier gives us more room, but focused support later can still help. The assessment shows what is realistic.

Which exam board?

The one your child’s school enters them for. Tell us at the assessment and we prepare to it.

Do you run the required practicals?

We cover the knowledge, method and exam questions behind them. We do not carry out the experiments at the centre.

Start with an assessment

See where your child stands.

A free assessment in the subject you are worried about. We mark it, then talk you through what we found and how much time there is to work with.
