11+ · Years 5–6
Entrance papers, without dropping everything else.
Maths, English, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning for Years 5 and 6, in two-hour sessions with no more than five pupils per tutor. £17 per session. The subjects your child needs depend on the schools they are applying to.
What the schools test.
The Sutton shared test
Five Sutton grammar schools, plus Greenshaw High School, share one first-stage test: maths and English, with no verbal or non-verbal reasoning at either stage. For these schools, we don’t add reasoning tuition.
Tiffin and The Tiffin Girls’ School
Tiffin School and The Tiffin Girls’ School run their own two-stage admissions, separate from the Sutton test. Both stages are English and maths.
Emanuel School
Emanuel, here in Wandsworth, sets its own papers: maths, English and verbal reasoning. Applying somewhere else? Other schools may use different arrangements, including a shared online test covering all four areas.
For September 2027 entry. Admissions arrangements can change. We check the schools’ own published information and review this page each year. Parents should also check the latest admissions information directly with each school.
These are the four areas we can teach. Your child may not need all four.
Preparation matched to the schools you are applying to.
There is no single 11+ exam, so we start with the schools your child is applying to and prepare for the assessment they will actually sit.
- The work underneaththe reason it holds up
-
We prepare for the assessment while still teaching the skills underneath it.
- School work, stillthe exam is not the year
-
Year 5 and 6 school work carries on, including the Year 6 national tests; our preparation is built to support both rather than trade one for the other.
Is Year 6 too late to start?
It depends on when in Year 6, the schools and what is already secure. If we don’t think there is enough time, we’ll tell you.
What if my child does not get a place?
We cannot guarantee an offer. Our preparation is built around the Maths, English and reasoning skills required by the schools being applied to, while keeping the work appropriate to the child’s current level.
Start with the right preparation.
A free assessment gives us a starting point. We look at your child’s current work, mark it, then recommend preparation with the schools they are applying to in mind.
